Net Metering allows owners of solar plants to store
excess solar energy generated on their site in the utility grid.
How does Net Metering work?
Your solar plant generates solar power for your building while you stay connected to the utility grid.
If your solar plant generates more energy than you are consuming, the excess energy will be fed into the utility grid.
If your solar plant generates less energy than you are consuming, you will draw the additional electricity required from the utility grid.
A bi-directional meter measures the net energy consumed from the utility grid.
You only pay for the power you generate. It is not necessary that the energy is used on-site. Any excess solar power is credited to you in your next utility bill.
